Housebuilding Sector Possibly Affected by EU Uncertainty

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors have discovered that workloads amongst private housebuilders has increased by the slowest rate since the second quarter of 2013, with a slowdown across the industry also having been reported. The survey also showed that a little over a third of those working in the private housebuilding sector saw their workloads increasing during the first quarter of 2016, when compared to 50% reporting the same during the first quarter of the previous year.While this may seem like bad news at first, the same survey also showed that those in the Construction industry expect the number of people working in it to increase by a further 2% during the year, demonstrating that the industry appears to be stable and growing during a difficult period in the UK’s recent political history.It is important to remember that these figures still represent growth in Construction, though perhaps at a slower rate than predicted before the possibility of a Brexit loomed.
