Bidding on Civil Engineering project in Worcestershire begins!

The bidding and Procurement process has begun for the final phase of a Civil Engineering Project on the A4440 Worcester Southern Link Road and Specialist Contractors with relevant expertise are being encouraged to tender for the project, which is valued at £70 million.

Worcestershire City Council is looking for Contractors that will be able to deliver the fourth and final phase of the project, which is intended to relieve congestion on the Carrington Bridge through the creation of a dual carriageway.

The initial Procurement process will allow the council to pre-qualify Specialists for early contractor involvement, with later stages of the process being earmarked for the design and build contracts for the road.

The contract not only includes the dualling over Carrington Bridge, which crosses the River Severn and is notorious for being a bottleneck that restricts the flow of traffic, but also includes the same process for the road between the Ketch and Powick roundabouts.

A potential frontrunner for the contract is Welsh Firm Alun Griffiths, who have been working on phase three – the reconfiguration of the Norton roundabout – and also worked on phase two of the project.

Worcestershire City Council is hoping to have awarded the contract by the end of February 2017, with further information being available for interested Specialist contractors from the council’s procurement office.
